Ingredients:
For making Gatte
- Besan (Gram Flour)- 2 cups
- Oil- 2 spoon
- Salt- As per taste
- Red chill powder- As per taste
- Asafoetida (Hing)- 1 pinch
- Baking Powder- 1 Pinch
- Yoghurt (Dahi)- Half cup
- Coriander seeds- 1 tea spoon
- Cumin Seeds- 1 tea spoon
- Green chilli (finely chopped)- 1
- Water- as per need for kneading
Method
For Gatte
- In a bowl, add besan and all the dry ingredients
- Add Oil and give it a mix
- Add yogurt and start kneading into a dough , add water if needed, make a soft dough
- Once done, oil your hands, and start rolling them out in shape of cigars
- Boil water in a big pot, add the gatte to water and boil for approx 10 min
- Once done, you can check by pinching one with a knife, if it comes out clean, its done
- Keep them aside, and get working on the curry
- In a pan , heat oil
- Once hot, add mustard seeds
- When they star cracking add, cumin , coriander, Saunf seeds and a pinch of asafoetida
- When mustard stops crackling and cumin is brown, add your gatta pieces
- Add salt, turmeric, amchoor, salt and garam masala and give it a good mix
- Let gatta brown
- Can be served as side or appetizer
