Masala Aloo – Spiced Potato

We will all remember year 2020 as the COVID19 year, the year that made us feel we live in an ordinary world which is vulnerable and where even the powerful can be brought to knees by an invisible threat.

Ensuring that we save our world and go on about our life, the whole world is on a Lockdown, working from home and suddenly we all have some extra time at our hand to try out things, we left because we are always on the run to get somewhere, to do something else.

A lot of us are indulging in cooking, as I always say, Food has the power to heal. Cooking is therapeutic and good food always provide a comfort to our soul, which we all can use a bit of now.

Here is a simple yet really big on flavors recipe I call masala Aloo .

Recipe for 2

Ingredients- 5 medium sized boiled potatoes

Oil- 3 Spoon

Jeera (Cumin seeds)- 1 spoon

Kasuri Methi – 1 spoon ( You can skip if you do not have this)

Salt- As per taste

Turmeric- 1 Pinch

Red Chili powder- Half spoon ( Adjust as per your spice level, I wanted them spicy)

Amchur Powder- 1 Spoon (Use lemon if do not have)

Green Chili- 2 Slit

Fresh Cilantro- 2-3 Sprigs finely chopped

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. When hot add Jeera seeds and let them crackle and brown a little
  3. When golden, Add kasuri Methi and Green chili
  4. Saute for few seconds
  5. Add mashed boiled potatoes
  6. Add all the spiced
  7. Add Chopped Cilantro
  8. Masala Aloo is ready to be served
