Gur Papdi, Just the name of it makes me nostalgic, takes me back to my nani’s house. She introduced this amazing sweet to us, and I think my emotional bond with this particular sweet is what makes it so special for me. Whenever we used to visit her she used to make this along with so many other wonderful food and snacks. I miss those days so much, wrapped in the warmth of love and such amazing food. I think I should pay a visit to her soon.
It is a simple recipe which is quick to make with minimal ingredients, but it does taste amazing. So let’s get started
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour- 1 cup
- Ghee (Clarified butter)- 3-4 spoons
- Gur (Jaggery)- Half cup (Adjust more or less as per sweetness you would like)
- Cashews- To garnish (optional)
Method
- Heat ghee in a pan and add Wheat flour to it, over the medium heat roast the flour, keep stirring (It should not be dry, add more ghee if needed)
- When the Flour begins to change its colour and the kitchen is fragrant add jaggery and quickly mix
- Switch off the gas and pour it to a greased tray for setting
- Garnish with cashews and enjoy
