Winter brings with it a wonderful assortment of vegetables, carrots and peas are my absolute favorite. They are so versatile and tastes amazing without any much efforts.
Aloo Matar is my one of the to go to recipes in winters when I need something awesome (which happens to be daily) and quickly (Which again happens to be almost daily).
So lets start without much ado, it is a very quick and easy recipe to follow. This recipe can serve 2-3
Ingredients
- Potatoes- 4
- Peas (garden or sweet pea) – 250 Gms (Shelled)
- Onion- 1 Sliced
- Green chili- 1/2 Slit lengthwise
- Salt- To taste
- Oil- 2-3 spoon
- Red chili powder- half spoon
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 spoon
- Coriander Powder- Half spoon
- Cumin Seeds – Half spoon
- Dry Mango Powder – Half spoon (Or lemon juice)
Method
- Peel and cut potatoes, slice onions, shell peas, slit chilis and keep everything aside
- Heat oil in pan, add cumin and let it crackle and turn brown and aromatic on medium heat
- Add in green chili and onions and cook till onion translucent
- Add in potatoes and peas and all the spices (Except dry mango powder)
- Cook on Medium heat, covered and stirring occasionally until potatoes are done (If they stick add a little water to the pan)
- Serve hot with rice or chapati, garnish with coriander
